Prayer for the 2019 European Elections

Lord, as we approach the European MEP elections,

grant to us and across Europe the wisdom and courage we need,

 to make the right choices.

Move us to carry out our duties as responsible citizens

with respect for the rights of all Europeans citizens.

By voting in a spirit of Christian fellowship, human solidarity and service,

may we bring hope to the poor, unity to all European people

and a commitment to stabilise the Climate and stop pollution,

for a more secure and peaceful future for all your children and creation.

Lord, do not allow us to become discouraged, or misled by hollow or harmful promises.

Fired-up by the Holy Spirit, inspire us to contribute to the re-building

of the European Peace Project with vigour and generosity.

Loving and merciful Lord, we pray that in our voting the world may be blessed,

we ask this through Christ our Lord.

 Amen

Good politics at the service of peace Message from Pope Francis on the 52nd World Day of Peace here. Pax Christi has already written letters to Theresa May, Jeremy Corbyn and Vince Cable with a full copy of the message from Pope Francis inviting them to reflect and see where this message could influence their work!

The Bishops of England and Wales will be launching the film and course “Global Healing” (now available at www.ourcommonhome.co.uk ) to help individuals, families, parishes and diocese make a practical response to our care of creation.  The new course to explore ways we can help protect our planet, Global Healing is a response to Laudato Si ‘ and is also drawn from the work of CAFOD and its experience and understanding of Climate Change in the Global South where the damage is greatest among the poorest people of our planet who have done least to cause it.
